Unexpected Details

I ran across this photo tonight while I was browsing the internet.  It’s such a great idea, I just had to share it with everyone!  These vintage knobs stand in for wall hooks, creating a unique space to organize everyday items.  You can search for old knobs in flea markets and antique stores, saving yourself money while creating a useful solution for your home.  I plan on doing this by our front door very soon!

On another note, today we drove out to War Eagle Mill.  The mill is still functioning and they produce everything from cornmeal to pancake mix with water power.  I took pictures while we were there and will post them soon.  We also went to Hobbs State Park…all on a quest to find fun things to do this weekend that didn’t cost too much.  We had a wonderful time, and it would have all been free except for the whole wheat flour and cornmeal that I couldn’t resist.  Tonight I baked some banana muffins with my newly acquired flour, and will have to share the recipe soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!

Love the unexpected details too. Our home designers are always saying “break the rules” and use things out of context. Creative uses of common items can turn into great decor!

  2. I totally adore this idea! SO great!!!

Now that I’ve seen these hooks I keep looking around the house for common items I can turn in to useful things. Glad you all like this idea too! :-) I will have to post some pictures once I get some up in the hallway.
