So I was browsing around Etsy and found two things I just had to share. The first is this great little spoon that immediately caught my eye. What a nifty thing to add to a table for a birthday girl or boy! I love it’s vintage vibe and its celebratory spirit!

Happy Birthday Vintage Spoon from Hammermann on Etsy for $10
The other pièce de résistance is this amazing pop up card. These are handmade…who can believe it?!? With this card you almost don’t need a gift! I would keep this on my wall forever if I got one for my birthday…

Here they are! I promised you some ideas on how to get the black and white look for less…
1- Let Paint Be Your Friend: I know, I know black and grey paint looks scary in the can. It seems like it could make it on the walls and close the whole room in. However, that’s not always the case. Light will reflect off of the dark color, and will actually make corners recede. This trick, if used correctly, can create an optical illusion – making the room look larger. I recommend using it on an accent wall or in a small space like a bathroom. (Paint is the frugal girl’s friend…inexpensive with big results!)
I have seen black paint done to the ultimate level of perfection in a tiny bathroom. The walls were painted black, with one accent wall in a beautiful (modern) floral wallpaper. Pink and other light colors were added in the to the room by way of accessories, and it made a very cool room. (Wish I still had a picture to show, but I will do …

My dad has always used Purex for our laundry. It was the only thing that worked for him, because of his allergies. My skin is pretty sensitive too, so I’ve always stayed with Purex too. I was really excited when they came out with several green products, and Eric and I typically opt for their free and clear version. It’s usually less expensive than other brands, and it works really well too.
Today I got an email from Purex about a giveaway that’s going on now through December. Just fill out a short form to let them know what you and your family are doing to “go green,” and you could win $100. I am trying to think of what we do here at home so I can enter, and I thought you might want to too. Who doesn’t love a giveaway? You can also sign up for their special offers to get coupons, etc. emailed to you.
